The Singularity

Technological Singularity

Artificial Intelligence

The power of computers have progressed greatly over the ages. What used to be the size of a room can now fit into your own pocket.
Imagine the possibilities of the future with the power of computers increasing. This computing power will continue to increase and increase until a specific event happens.
This event is called the technological singularity and it is when the computing power surpasses the brainpower of all humans.
It is difficult to predict what happens after the technological singularity. This eZine's name is derived from this critical event in the future.

It is predicted that in 2045, the intelligence of computers will surpass the computing capacity of all humans combined.
This superintelligence can improve human intelligence through "mind uploading" which is uploading our entire brain into a computer.
In this sense, we can become immortal.

Artificial intelligence will become smarter than humans and are able to continually improve.
This brings up a factor that is portrayed in science fiction which is the artificial intelligence fighting against humans. Will the artificial intelligence be unfriendly towards humans?
They can certainly pose a great threat, especially since they will be smarter than us.

The technological singularity will change the world as we know it. The future becomes increasingly difficult to predict and understand.
The technological singularity has both pros and cons. There would be an explosive growth in technology with the coming of the technological singularity.
The singularity is a scary but interesting thought as the future with artificial intelligence is unpredictable. With the singularity, anything may be possible.
